LL: How long have you been burlesquing?

I started Burlesque in 2013. We danced to Santa Baby.

LL: What drew you/draws you to burlesque?

I started off in a class. It turned out to be a lot of fun. So, I signed up for the performance opportunities.

LL: What do you do when you’re not burlesquing?

I’m spending time with my family, keeping up with current news, working, and whatever else I’m in the mood for when I’m not burlesquing.

LL: I was inspired by your burlesque name to create a cakeball flavor. Any guesses as to what I have up my sleeve?

My guess would be something citrus. Maybe lemon.

LL: How long have you been burlesquing?

I’ve been doing burlesque since June 2014.

LL: What drew you/draws you to burlesque?

Burlesque is Freedom. There is no ideal feminine form that is identified as solely being “sexy” or “beautiful”. We all are. Period. I’ve shared the stage with women in their twenties and their sixties simultaneously. Each body is telling a story of their life’s journey to Freedom on the stage. Every stretch mark, every scar, every ripple of cellulite…Freedom.

I’ve had some amazing women as teachers & mentors and cultivated strong friendships. I accept and embrace every perfect imperfection that is my physical body & own my sexuality on my terms unapologetically. For a woman in this culture, that is Freedom.

LL: What do you do when you’re not burlesquing?

When I’m not burlesquing, I’m healing people with my superpowers, or writing science fiction stories. I must stay in some creative avenue in my daily life.

LL: I was inspired by your burlesque name to create a cakeball flavor. Any guesses as to what I have up my sleeve?

Well, since I’m always underestimated, I’m going to say it’s probably something extra sugary sweet with some frosting-like filling. Hahahaha – but it should be a dark and indefinable taste that lingers long after you’ve wiped your lips.

LL: How long have you been burlesquing?

I’ve been on the scene for about two years.

LL: What drew you/draws you to burlesque?

I was attracted to the freedom of burlesque. I love how everyone accepts their body as it is and isn’t afraid to put it all out there. I grew up in a more conservative household in terms of how we discussed sex/sexuality/body image, so to see girls not afraid of putting it all out there is fascinating and thrilling. I still tend to be a more private person offstage but I love that I can be anyone I want to be when I’m up there dancing.

LL: What do you do when you’re not burlesquing?

I am a socialite without a million dollar bank account.

LL: I was inspired by your burlesque name to create a cakeball flavor. Any guesses as to what I have up my sleeve?

Well…my name is a flavor so I feel like you got off easy on this one! I’m thinking it is a spicy apple cider type cakeball. Although if it was inspired by me, there should also be some shots of whiskey in them.

Come get spicy with Spiced Cider! Get your tickets for the CakeBall Masquerade.

LL: How long have you been burlesquing?

I started in August 2014 in a group number with the Pink Chardonnays. My first solo was in October of 2014.

LL: What drew you/draws you to burlesque?

Burlesque empowers me so I can feel more comfortable with feeling vulnerable and embodying that there is strength in that. It’s also opened my creativity in new and ever expanding ways. It allows me to express myself playfully.

LL: What do you do when you’re not burlesquing?

I am attending burlesque shows. I am an avid Soul Cycle spinner. I recently started strength training with a competitive strong woman and it’s surprised me how much I enjoy doing deadlifts. It’s been great for my inner strength too. I’ve dabbled in trapeze. And I like to try new things. I’d be remiss if I didn’t say I enjoy sharing yummy food with dear friends. And I have four nieces and nephews who range in age from 13 to 20. I really enjoy spending time with each of them, as they are unique and I like them as much as I love them.

LL: I was inspired by your burlesque name to create a cakeball flavor. Any guesses as to what I have up my sleeve?

Well my tag line is I’m tart and intoxicating so I’m guessing that’s the theme. But you may need to add some pop rocks for effervescence and cayenne for spice to get all of me. Okay, it’s probably a little sweet too.

Shimmy LeCoeur

There are less than two weeks until Luscious Lane’s CakeBall Masquerade, a burlesque review featuring some sweet and sexy “flavors.” Luscious Lane sat down with some of the performers who inspired her. Meet Shimmy LeCouer.

LL: How long have you been burlesquing?

I started burlesque dancing four-and-a-half glorious years ago. I was actually taking the Burlesque Bikini Bootcamp class and they offered a workshop for their Christmas show. Sometimes there are funny reasons that bring you to something that becomes such a wonderful part of your life. Regardless, I needed something to step outside my comfort zone and thought, what could do that more than stripping down on stage? It became the best experience of my life.

LL: What drew you/draws you to burlesque?

Not only have I met so many wonderful, amazing women who have become so important in my life, but I have found a side of myself that was hidden and needed to be expressed. I wouldn’t trade my burlesque life for anything.

LL: What do you do when you’re not burlesquing?

During the day I am a nurse. When I started burlesque dancing I was going to nursing school and found ways to dance while studying and working full time. Burlesque was my escape from all the craziness that was my life at the time. So during the day, I take care of people medically. During the night I shimmy into their hearts and give them a glorious jumpstart.

LL: I was inspired by your burlesque name to create a cakeball flavor. Any guesses as to what I have up my sleeve?

I think my burlesque flavor would be sweet but have a sexiness about it. My dances start out sweet but always end with a level of sexiness shimmying across the stage.

Let Shimmy shimmy across the stage and jumpstart YOUR heart. Get your tickets for the CakeBall Masquerade today.
